Things here are great! By the way (as the subject line suggests) I got moved to Sligo! It's on the west coast of Ireland and truly feels like Ireland. I feel like I'm just starting up the church new! (There's only a branch of about 20 active members. In Sligo, things are way different. It is an amazing sight to go from a ward of 100+ to a branch of 20- :D. But the people here are so good. In reading through the Area Book I've gleaned a lot of information about the people here.
I am planning on doubling church attendance (whether through baptisms or reactivation) while I am here. I think it's completely possible.
An interesting story about Myself and Sligo:
When I arrived in Ireland we went and slept and recovered for the following day. The following day we went over to the mission office to wait till we would know where we were going. Elders Womack, Brook, Breakall, Richardson, and Myself were all waiting. Whilst waiting we began looking at a map. One of the Assistants to the President started naming off the different areas. I looked at the map (knowing nothing about where any missionaries were or anything) and finally pointed at Sligo and said "Are there any missionaries out here?" to which the AP replied "Yup, that's Sligo." I said "Cool, that's where I'm going"
So from the beginning of my mission I determined to go to Sligo. Obviously I went to Terenure first, but I told President on almost every occasion "send me to Sligo". It was really an amazing occurrence to come here and see everything. I feel as though the lord has blessed me with this place. It's a small, spread-out town. But that means that everyone can just get to know you better!
I'm excited to start serving here.
My new companion is Elder Proctor.
Oh! We arranged our own fireside for the Sligo Branch, that was cool! It was on member-missionary work! They are very excited to start working (so am I!)
Hi Elder Beacham.Hope all is working well in Sligo. I am so Happy to know that you are doing a good job there. Hopefully you'll be able to teach lots of people there.
ReplyDeleteI am always praying for all missionaries around the World.
Take care,
Clarissa =)
-Good old area books!! ya gotta love'm
ReplyDeleteit is amazing how they help out, yet
it is great when they are kept up to date...
sometimes they can be a mess, holy cow.
-Ya know your story about Sligo...
I kinda have a simular one but not quite, your story is prob. a little bit better. ;)
-It is about a city in Ontario, Canada called London.
-When all of us missionarys got picked up from the airport in Toronto and we walked in the front door of the mission home, in Brampton, ON there were other missionarys there, because they were our trainers, and when it came time for us to know where we were going, I kept having this thought, of me thinking of London, England/Ontario and with in 10 mins. my Mission Pres. said, (i don't remember exactly) Elder Grant, your Trainer is Elder (Dallin) shaw and you will be going to London.....
-Again I am not sure if that is like your experience, but.... that is what your story reminded me of.
-Love ya Bud!! Keep the Truth Roling forth, and I know you are Blessed and will be blessed forever!
-Keep showing lots of love toward the people and their hearts will soften sooner or later, I hope sooner tho, yet with you, it will be sooner!
-your fellow Brother in the Gospel
who will alway Stand Fast!
Dallas Grant
I AGREE with your friend Dallas. All the love through the Gospel you showed to us is just amazing. All the things I've learned with you and E. Johnson is just amazing. My heart is soften and I am so happy with that. So many things I have to learn and I am so proud of myself and How much my faith is growing up Now. Its just incredible the Feeling of Spirit of Jesus Christ is in every single message you put in here.
ReplyDeleteKeep doing the magnificent mission you did here in Terenure.

ReplyDeleteis this your first time learning about the church?
How did Elder Beachum, end up teaching you? ;)
I love the this Church!! I am sure there are quite alot of words to say how someone might love it, but my explaination will be, I will always be Speachless of how Amazing and Wanderful it is!
Hey Dallas, its not my first time learning about the Church... I still have lots to learn. Elder Beacham and his companion were good teachers. Both of then are special missionaries and they always brought us the Spirit of God! There is no words to express my love and gratitute to God for let me be a member of the Church.
